Weather in Krasnoyarsk

The climate of Krasnoyarsk is ‘continental’ but it is softened by the Enisei river and Krasnoyarsk Sea located not far from the city.

Scientists say the local climate is gradually getting warmer with a slight increase in precipitation.

Winters are long and can be extremely cold, with temperatures as low as -40°C, though the average winter temperature is about -20°C.

Thaws are rare, snowfalls - frequent and the air is usually dry. Winters last from mid-October to end of March with November being the cloudiest and windiest month of the year.

Spring is cool with little humidity and often lasts until the beginning of of June.

This cool weather is then replaced by a warm and often humid summer; however Krasnoyarsk is rarely described as being too hot with an average summer temperature of around comfortable 25°C.

Summer time lasts for about two and a half months, with middle of August day temperature usually going down to 15°C, with noticeably colder mornings and evenings.

September is usually dry and warm, with first signs of winter coming in early October.

Krasnoyarsk enjoys about 120 sunny days each year; the seasons are mostly stable and flow smoothly into each other without unexpected surprises.
