President’s envoy to the region had video call with Thai Ambassador to Russia to encourage investment.

'We are interested in developing cruise tourism infrastructure, and we would be delighted to see Thai businessmen as investors'

Vice Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, Presidential Envoy to the Far East of Russia, invited greater co-operation with the Kingdom of Thailand during a video chat with Ambassador Sasiwat Wongsinsawat.

‘The Far East is the closest Russian territory to Thailand. We are interested in developing cruise tourism infrastructure, and we would be delighted to see Thai businessmen as investors. I also believe our collaboration in agricultural projects is very promising’, said the Vice Prime Minister.

Mr Wongsinsawat said he was keen to visit the upcoming September Far Eastern Forum of Economics in Vladivostok, Russia’s Pacific Capital to ‘assess the potential of the region with his own eyes’ and to hold meetings with several Russian companies.

The volume of foreign trade between the Far East of Russia and the Kingdom of Thailand amounted to $79.1 million in 2020, and to $36.8 million in the first two quarters of 2021.

The main type of Russian export to Thailand is fuel and oil products.
