Novosibirsk-based businessman and traveller and his friends are embarking on a drive from the heart of Siberia to the southernmost point of Euroasia.

'The trip will start in Novosibirsk and after passing the Kazakh steppes, we get to the Baikonur cosmodrome,' said Alexey, 35, who is in the carpet business.
'After that, the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, with its wonderful markets and delicious pilaf is waiting for us. Next, we move to neighbouring Tajikistan, making a stopover in Dushanbe.
'Then the road starts to climb rapidly, and we find ourselves on the high Pamir tract. The path runs along the Panj River, right on the border with Afghanistan. To the other side just a few hundred metres away, you can easily see the houses and the Afghan people themselves.
'Along the way we will pass the world's highest power plant, Nurek, and this is the highest road pass in the former Soviet Union, Ak-Baytal at 4,655 metres.
'After descending from the mountain pass Kyzyl-Art the part of the route will go through Kyrgyzstan.

'Next we will head to China. The first Chinese city will be Kashgar (Kashi), situated at an altitude of just above 1000 metres.
'After passing through the western part of the Taklimakan Desert, Xinjiang Uygur region, the expedition enters the Tibetan Autonomous Region.
'It starts with the greatest mountain range in the world: the Himalayas. There will be a chance to see the second largest mountain in the world K2, located in Pakistan.
'The road rises to the height of 4000-5000 metres and will lead us deeper into Tibet with its ancient monasteries and sacred places. We will visit the base camp of climbers ascending Mount Everest, and the ancient Tibetan, city of Lhasa.

'After Lhasa route will pass through the southern province of Yunnan, with an almost tropical climate, unique forests, an abundance of mountain rivers. The road gradually go down to several thousand metres.
'Now we head into South-East Asia, crossing the Mekong River, our group will enter Laos. Moving through the tropical forest, we then go to the capital of Laos, Vientiane. The next state on the path of the expedition will be Vietnam, and along the coast of the South China Sea to the capital - Ho Chi Minh City, where a stop is scheduled.
'From Ho Chi Minh City route will go through Cambodia, Thailand, pausing for a beach stop for a few days.
'From here we go to Malaysia and after passing the capital, Kuala Lumpur, we reach the final point of our trip: the southernmost tip of Eurasia, Tanjung Piai.'
From here the team's cars will be shipped back to Russia by sea.
