The male cub was shot in the head and wildlife experts say it is a 'miracle' the animal survived.

The cat - an endangered Amur tiger, one of less than 600 or so alive in the wild  - was with its mother and a sibling when it was shot in the Pozharsky district of Primorsky region on 13 January.

The cub is now in rehabilitation in Alekseevka village to save it's life, and a pioneering operation to save its life is expected on Friday. The  mother has been seen returning to the place the cub was shot, clearly worried about her 7 month old cub.

Veterinarian Irina Korotkova said: 'The wound was treated. We injected analgesic, antibiotics. According to the X-ray the animal has a complicated injury. Most likely several surgeries are needed.'

The Far Eastern department of Centre 'Amur Tiger' announced that they will pay 150,000 roubles ($2,550) for reliable information about the poachers.

Director Sergey Aramilev said: 'The most important thing now is to make every effort to save the life of tiger cub, although we are aware that the situation is severe and not everything, unfortunately, depends on the vets.

'We hope that the police will make every effort to find the poachers. Our organisation is ready to pay compensation for accurate information about the circumstances of the crime and the perpetrators with a guarantee of confidentiality.

'Special thanks to the people that reported about the injured tiger cub.'

Poachers, you are not cool. You ugly people. I wish there were hunters that hunted poachers.

Does the abuse of animals never end. Humans are turning into killers who don't care about anything else, why can't we try and live in harmony with the rest of the creatures that live on this land with us and not go around killing everything else on the planet

I read every day about poaching in Africa but when I saw this about your precious Siberian Tiger cub my heart sank. Poachers have no scruples about what and where they murder. it starts at the top find the money people and jail them. Take away the demand and their wont be reason to kill. Officials need to act not procrastinate. thanks for posting this story. Bless this baby tiger.

I do hope that it's life is saved.poor cub! Probably the reason for such poaching is directed to the stupid Chinese medicine that is to blame to the killing of many iconic plants and animal species, not to mention their weird appetite for exotic creatures such as shark, pangolin etc....and their obsession with ivory that have decimated the Asian and African elephant populations...

This is the reality of all the wildlife that are trying to live in the few habitats they have left. Not only do they have no prey left to hunt to survive thanks to humans hunting but they are persecuted by trophy hunters, poachers, smugglers and criminal syndicate's that use the body parts of tigers and other animals for personal profit. I agree with the other comment, give the harshest criminal punishment to the perpetrators and increase the awaremenss and educate people to report anyone who engages in these activities. More must be done to crush these crime syndicate who murder out few precious wildlife left on this earth. I always use the moto: if all wildlife are made extinct then humans will seize to exist, the existence if humans depend on the survival of all other species.

Please, use the correct name of the rehabilitation center. PRNCO "Tiger Center" or «The Center for Rehabilitation and Reintroduction of Tigers and Other Rare Animals» .
thank you!

I fully support the death penalty for any one caught and convicted of shooting or killing one of these magnificent animals. These poachers must be aware that their actions will result in serious consequences.
